HOW TO PLAY
Daily Stone Merge: rules and examples
Slide matching numbers together on a 4×4 board with two fixed stone obstacles. Score at least 96 points within 24 moves. This is the daily mode of Hitoiki Games' Number Merge, and you can play it directly above.
The target is your total score
Merging 2 and 2 adds 4 points; merging 4 and 4 adds 8. Add the points from each merge to reach 96. You do not need to make a tile numbered 96. Reaching the goal on your 24th move still counts as a win.
Moving this row left cannot combine the two 2s. A stone separates the row into sections. Stones do not move, and tiles cannot slide or merge across them.
What uses a move?
- Only an action that changes the board counts toward the 24-move limit.
- After a successful move, a 2 or 4 appears in an empty square.
- Pressing a direction that changes nothing does not use a move.
- The attempt ends when you reach the target, use all 24 moves, or have no legal move left.
Retry the same daily puzzle
The daily puzzle changes at 00:00 UTC. Everyone starting the same day's puzzle gets the same initial board and deterministic number-generation sequence. Different moves create different empty squares, so later tile positions can differ.
Use “Retry this challenge” to return to the same daily starting position. You can retry as often as you like. A useful approach is to plan merges within each stone-separated section and keep space open for the next tile.
Controls and saved progress
Use arrow keys, swipe on the board, or press the on-screen direction buttons. Your current attempt and daily completion record stay in this browser. There is no public leaderboard or account-based sync. If browser storage is unavailable, you can still play, but closing the page may lose your progress.
The game's code has no accounts, ads, or payments. The hosting platform may process access information needed to deliver and operate the site.
Prefer no move limit? Play Classic Number Merge, or try Perfect Pairs and Little Mines. Classic and daily progress are saved separately.
